President's Message
Last Updated on Saturday, 17 July 2010 22:30 Written by Administrator Sunday, 13 June 2010 12:44
Starting today, I will be using this space to let you know the latest and greatest on the club's happenings. In the past, this President's Message would mirror the one in the newsletter. Often though, there are changes or missing information about events or announcements that can't wait until the next newsletter to be published. As an example, due to space limitations, we couldn't do a full write up about the Fairfield Event or the Limerock event. By the time the next newsletter is published, it would either be too late or too short of notice to be of any value. So I will be using this space to alert everyone about any changes and direct you to that event description in the Events Section. So please do check this space regulalry. Another item I would like to put out there, is an idea mentioned by a couple of members, that is to post pics. of member's and their cars on this website. So, if you have a really interesting/funny story about or surrounding your car, submit it to me, along with the obvious picture and we will select the best one to be posted on this site and featured in the newsletter. Now, onto the next and upcoming events. On July 18th, the Minuteman Section (MA) is having their first-ever Western Mass. Cookout and we have been invited to participtate. This is a family event, so children are more than welcome. There will be activities for them, like steamer train rides, Miniature Golf golf. See the Events section for details. If you missed last year's Lime Rock Raceway Vintage Fest, here is another chance to attend. Sept 3-6. there will be more than 275 historic race cars, actually racing that weekend. Last year there were Bugattis from the 1920's out on the track. If you misssed it last year, then you missed seeing one of the very few original Silver Arrows. You may have seen the picture on the cover of the Star. The organizers tell us that this year the Porsche 911S that Steve McQueen drove at the beginning of the movie, LeMans, will be there. This event also will give our section a chance to not only display our cars, but take them on a parade lap around the track, again see details in the Events section. Next on our calender, Sept 11-12, is a return to the Fairfield Concours D'legance Club Day, in Westport, CT. Last year we had so many cars, not only from our section but from the Long Island section, that we had to make another row. The first 25 CT/Westchester members (cars) to sign up for this, will receive 2, two day passes for not only the club day, but to the main event on Sunday. More details can be found in the Events Section. The final car event of the year will be an Octoberfest Dine and Drive on October 16th. Details are still being worked out, but it will be held in the Western part of CT, starting in Bethel CT, near Danbury, CT. See the Events Section for more details as they become available. Of course the year will finish out with our Annual Holiday party in Dec. Details will be published at a later time.
So come out and join us, there is pleanty to do. Keep checking here and in the Events Section for the specifc details for each event. Remember, it's not a club if you don't show up.
And as always, Happy Motoring
Caravan to June Jamboree June 19th

As many of you know, every year the NNJS of MBCA holds their annual June Jamboree at MBUSA headquarters in Montvale, NJ. This year it is on June 19th. If you have never gone to this event, you are missing out. You will see some fantastic examples of Mercedes, not only what they have in the headquarters, but what members of MBCA drive to this annual event. Last year MBUSA had on display a SLR Roadster, that you could sit in. This year on hand will be the new E Class Convertible. There will be a concours and if you want to register your car ($45) go the NNJS website www.mbca.org/northern_new_jersey and register. If you just want to look around and be part of the activities, it's only $10. This will get you not only lunch but a basic breakfast (coffee, bagels, etc). This also gives you a chance to meet other MBCA members from the East Coast.
Now, where do we as a section come into this? Well, we are going to have a caravan to the June Jamboree. It is going to start out in Glastonbury, CT in the Barnes and Noble parking lot. We will be departing at 8 am. sharp., with an estimated arrival time of 9:45, at MBUSA headquarters. Our plan is to "pick up" members as we travel South to NJ. The route we will be taking will be Rt 84 to Rt 91 to the Wilbur Cross Pkwy/Merritt Pkwy. Then into NY on 287, across the Tappan Zee Bridge to the Garden State Pkwy. Along the way we will be stopping at a couple of the reststops on the Wilbur Cross and Merritt Pkwys to pick up other members. The following are times that we will be either passing or stopping at various points, in route. 8:15 Getting on the WC Parkway, 8:25 Passing the rest stop a couples miles South of Exit 64; 8:30 Passing through the tunnel, 8:40; We will stop briefly at the rest area near exit 56. Be ready to leave straight away if you are meeting us there; 8:50 we will be passing the rest stop near exit 46; 8:58 we will be passing Exit 41 in Westport; 9:00 We will stop again briefly at the reststop near exit 38 in New Canaan; 9:15 Passing the rest stop near Exit 28 in Greenwich; 9:20 Getting on RT 287 West; 9:25 Cross over the Tappan Zee Bridge. If you plan on meeting us at 1 of the 2 stops, please call me at 860-906-6305 to let me know and at which stop. This way I will know to look out for you. The other times should give others an idea on when and where to join in on the caravan, on the go. For your GPS, use this address, 3 Mercedes Dr., Montvale, NJ as our destination.
So come out and join us on our 1st June Jamboree Caravan.
Welcome to the Connecticut/Westchester Section Site
