What a great get away weekend we had at this year’s Keels & Wheels Concourse d' Elegance!

Some of our club members showed up Friday night and others showed up on Saturday morning. One of the best treats this weekend was being able to meet up with another MBCA group, the Houston car club.

We began the weekend with meeting up at Tommy's Seafood for dinner on Friday evening. We were a group of 9 that got together. What amazing seafood we had. We started off with oysters on the half shell, and per Sak Reeves order, the waiter kept bringing more as we finished them off! After dinner we started making our game plan for the following mornings’ show at the Lakewood Yacht Club.

The following morning we met up at the yacht club at 10:30. We took a couple of pictures and we began our treks through vintage and modern automobiles of all types. We also enjoyed all the various boats and yachts that were from early 20th century to present. What an amazing collection of water and land machines. The automobiles were set up in groups according to year groups and makes. From the early nineteen hundreds to brand new 2018's. Many models that have since dissolved by the by-ways were well represented. This in no way diminished the offerings of the water and sea fairing type. Antique teakwood boats such as Chris Craft and restored yachts of yore!

That Saturday evening we followed up with dinner at Tookie's Seafood where we met up with the Houston Car club. Errol Hines, president, was very welcoming as were the rest of the Houston Club members. After dinner the club made a little presentation in welcoming us on the outside patio. We were gifted a placard that we can use on future outings that displays our club name. And we were also given chocolate candy bars bearing the club names and event attended!

That evening turned into an awesome meet and greet between both clubs, and we spoke of planning future events together and have a great time.

And to what has become par for parting ways, we began our walk to the parking lot, saying our good byes, were we could then  begin oohing and aahing over everyone else's Mercedes-Benz cars. Where people would usually start showing pictures of children and grandchildren, we begin showing pictures of our "4 wheeled babies" and their brothers and sisters! What can I say, car people at heart.

Thanks again to the Houston Car Club for their great hospitality, and a very special thanks to Errol Hines and the rest of his club members who came out to welcome us and make it a really special evening in wrapping up the weekend.

All in all the Keels & Wheels weekend was a blast!!! Thanks to all the members who attended and thanks to those that helped set up and coordinate this event. Click on the candy bar below to see a short slideshow of pictures.
