Houston Section visit to The Bryan Museum in Galveston

MBCA Houston Chapter kicks off the New Year with a visit to The Bryan Museum on Galveston Island.

Located in the former Galveston Orphans Home, the museum boasts one of the worlds largest collections of Texas and the American West, emphasizing the Spanish influences in the region.


We will meet up at 9:45 am in the lobby for a 10 am docent-guided tour of the museum. The tour will last 90 minutes, and afterward, visitors are encouraged to check out the grounds and landscaping as well as the gift shop. The group size will be limited to the first 50 registrants. Our discounted group rate for museum admission and tour will be $10 per person payable through our registration link. 

Afterward, we’ll have a casual lunch at Nick’s Kitchen, right next to Gaido’s:

Please note:

• The restaurant plans to put us in a semi-private room. As this will be a large group, 20% gratuity will be included.

• Museum interior temperature kept at 65 degrees in order to preserve the artwork and rare documents. A sweater may make your visit more pleasurable.

• The Bryan Museum’s parking lot is located at the West side of the building on Avenue M.


Directions to The Bryan Museum:

Southbound via I-45: From Houston to Galveston

• I-45 will turn into Broadway (Avenue J), continue straight onto Broadway.

• Continue on Broadway, turn right onto Kempner Street (22nd Street)

• Continue straight on Kempner Street,

The gate to the parking lot will be directly in front of you at the intersection of Kempner and Avenue M.

• Take a slight left into The Bryan Museum parking lot.
